The world of the Internet moves at an incredible pace it is often difficult to keep up. As a web developer I’m always curious as to what is next. With the recent launch of Safari 5 and the amazing technology in the Safari browser on the iPhone and iPad boasting some new tools I delved in deeper.

The HTML 5 technology inside the new browser is fantastic. Having long been unhappy with Adobe Flash, HTML 5 is presenting a powerful alternative. Browsers such as Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome now all support video and audio natively within the browser which is what Flash is predominately used for these days. Internet Explorer 9 will also support video and audio natively.

What about fancy effects you ask? HTML 5 has that covered. Safari 5 supports a breathtaking amount of object manipulation features so you can do some blazingly fast 2D or even 3D effect on any element on a website. Having played around with a few of these effects it is outstanding what can be achieved with very little effort.

With so many fresh new ways to browse the web, websites need to support more than just the cursor. Finger gestures and many other things will start to play a big part in a lot of websites do to the unique web browsing experience on the iPhone and iPad.
